Do Firming Creams Get Rid of Cellulite?

Lumpy, uneven skin is a common complaint. You may be wondering if there is anything that can be done to facilitate its removal. Luckily, there are several things you can try, all of which may help reduce the impact of your body’s natural skin unevenness.

Lumpy, uneven skin is a common complaint, especially among women. You may be wondering— as summer inches ever closer— if there is anything that can be done to facilitate its removal. Luckily, there are several things you can try, all of which may help reduce the impact of your body’s natural skin unevenness. After all, this is a normal skin condition that affects the vast majority of people worldwide: cellulite.

What Is Cellulite?

"Cellulite is very common; in fact, 93 percent of women have it," Dendy Engelman, M.D.

You might be surprised to learn that cellulite is simply the result of fatty deposits under the skin’s surface. When fat cells enlarge enough, they can bulge out of the connective tissue that holds them in line with the cells around them. Each little “pocket” forms a small lump on the surface of your skin. The divots that you see on your skin are caused by the connective tissue holding back the fat cells. Having body fat is completely normal— even some lean people are plagued by cellulite! There also seems to be a genetic component, which is why some people are more likely to develop this condition.

Cellulite Treatment

If your skin’s uneven texture is a spot of insecurity, you may be wondering what treatments are available to help minimize the appearance of cellulite. There are a few options, including weight loss and targeted muscle toning. Remember, though, that cellulite isn’t always a sign you need to lose weight— some body fat is normal! If you are at a healthy weight for your body type and have attempted to tone your muscles near the cellulite, you may be a good candidate for some topical treatments and non-invasive procedures.

Medical Procedures

Many patients see an improvement in the appearance of their skin with laser and radio wave treatments. Your dermatologist may also recommend cryolipolysis or, in rare cases, surgery. If none of these sound appealing to you, we recommend that you try a topical treatment first.

Firming Creams and Cellulite

As we learn more about how the skin reacts to different topical products, it’s becoming clear that firming creams can have a significant impact on cellulite. There are several benefits that come from using firming creams, but the most notable by far is their ability to increase cell turnover. This increased rate of normal cell replacement encourages new collagen (an extremely important structural component for the skin) to be produced.

What Is A Firming Cream?

This topical product targets the processes that help the skin look soft and supple. By increasing the moisture level, inhibiting the breakdown of collagen, bathing the cells in antioxidants, and exfoliating damaged skin, firming creams plump up and smooth out the skin, even in locations that are marred by subcutaneous connective tissue.

Firming Cream Ingredients

When selecting a firming cream, you should be on the lookout for the following combination of ingredients: polypeptides (stimulate elastin and collagen production), ceramides (lock in moisture and prevent collagen breakdown), cocoa and shea butter (improve elasticity), and herbal extracts like calendula, aloe, arnica, and citric acid. We include all of these ingredients in Rejuvaskin’s very own Advanced Firming Cream. When combined with other effective strategies, you’ll be well on your way to regaining control over your cellulite!
