The Secret to SRC: Bamboo, Pea, & Glucosamine

The Secret to SRC: Bamboo, Pea, & Glucosamine || what is glucosamine, what does bamboo extract do, pea extract for anti-aging

Here at Rejuvaskin, we’re on a mission to bring you products that heal your skin without irritating it in the process. In the pursuit of a flawless complexion, we often find ourselves seeking out the latest trends and products; we aim to be different, and that’s why you’ll find natural botanicals and ingredients like bamboo extract, pea extract, and glucosamine in our Skin Recovery Cream

Today, we’re going to chat about these three ingredients and why we put them in our product; we’ll answer a few questions for you, too: what is glucosamine, what does bamboo extract do, and is pea extract for anti-aging?

Skin Recovery Cream’s Proprietary Blend:

Overall, this blend of ingredients has one goal: to be a healthy, non-steroidal alternative to the creams that are commercially available for issues like eczema and radiation burns. When we put this blend together, we were looking for the highest potency with the gentlest ingredients possible. After all, you’re putting this cream directly onto damaged skin that is yearning for a little relief. But, what’s in this powerhouse blend? Let’s take a look and see:

Ingredient #1: Glucosamine

So, what is glucosamine and what does it do for the skin? Glucosamine is a natural compound that our bodies produce, mainly found in the fluid around our joints. However, you can also get it as a supplement (as an animal, plant, or shellfish product), and you’ll find it in skincare products, too. Here's what it does:

  1. Glucosamine helps the skin by boosting the production of hyaluronic acid, a substance that helps retain moisture (source).
  2. Glucosamine has been shown to prevent collagen breakdown (source), which helps improve skin elasticity, firmness, and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, chondroitin sulfate (one of the smaller pieces within glucosamine) stimulates collagen synthesis (source).
  3. Studies show that glucosamine can also help with hyperpigmentation (source).
  4. Glucosamine is also a potent antioxidant – this means that it can help reduce oxidative damage in the skin – just like the retinoids we all know and love (source).

Ingredient #2: Bamboo Extract

The second ingredient in our proprietary blend is bamboo extract. But, what does bamboo extract do? According to one study, bamboo extract is “antioxidative, antibacterial and antiallergic,” but it also has an effect on melanin production in the skin. This means that we can expect much of the same from bamboo extract that we get from glucosamine. Pairing these two ingredients together increases the potency of the product and adds mild protection against skin infection.

Ingredient #3: Pea Extract

Finally, we have pea extract. You’ll see “antibacterial, antidiabetic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, … antioxidant… and anticancer…” properties from pea extract (source). That’s why we include pea extract for anti-aging and general skin health improvement in our Skin Recovery Cream.

Skin Recovery Cream: Blending Botanicals for Skincare

All three of these ingredients are similar, but bind in the skin in different ways. This gives our Skin Recovery Cream a more potent effect, all without harming or irritating the skin – this is incredibly important for eczema and radiation burn patients.
