Why a Scar Heal Kit Is the Answer: Healing Breast Procedure Scars Edition

Why a Scar Heal Kit Is the Answer: Healing Breast Procedure Scars Edition

Surgery of any kind is no walk in the park, and breast surgery certainly isn’t most people’s idea of a fun time. However, sometimes breast procedures are a necessary step in our lives一 whether breast cancer runs in our families or we need to finally feel at home in our own bodies. Breast tissue (or the absence of it) is a big part of what makes us who we are; when it is scarred after surgery, this can be problematic for some of us.

Many breast surgery patients have one burning question: how long do breast scars last? Honestly, the answer to this question depends heavily on many factors, such as your genetic predisposition to scarring, the way in which your incision was closed, the amount of stretch applied to the wound over the course of healing, and一 of course一 the after-surgical care that you, the patient, puts into the daily healing process.

Breast Procedures: How To Get Rid of Scars

Regardless of whether you just underwent surgery for an emergency or personal reasons, you shouldn’t need to be reminded of your procedure every time you look in the mirror. Scars are a natural part of our body’s healing process, but there are things we can do to speed up the process and make it more visually efficient. Some scar experts will tell you that scarring will only occur when you have a wound closed by inexperienced hands, but that’s simply not the case. You don’t need to pay the nation’s top-notch plastic surgeon to get great results.

Scar Heal Kits For Scar Treatment

Here at Rejuvaskin, we’ve designed specialty kits that contain everything you need一 start applying the products soon after your wound has closed, and remember to always consult your surgeon about after-surgery care. Patients wondering how to heal breast surgery scars will find that our scar heal kits come in a variety of shapes and sizes一 this way, your specific surgical site will fit the silicone sheet perfectly. Let’s take a look at what comes in the scar heal kit:

Silicone Sheeting

Based on the shape of your incision, you may need one of our five options: breast anchor shape, breast lollipop shape, breast circle shape, breast piece shape, or the small rectangular shape. The silicone sheeting is designed for at-night wear; simply clean the skin on and around your incision, pat dry, and apply the silicone sheets.

Silicone Scar Gel

Each breast scar treatment kit comes with a tube of our Rejuvasil scar gel. Don’t be intimidated by the small size of this bottle一 a little bit goes a long way! Use this 97% silicone scar gel during the day, allowing it to dry completely before dressing. Rejuvasil is discreet and easy to apply, giving you effortless, all-day protection.

Hypoallergenic Medical Tape

Although you probably won’t need it, we include a roll of our hypoallergenic medical tape in each scar heal kit. If you find that your silicone sheet isn’t sticking to your skin well, first try washing it gently according to the package’s directions, washing your skin and drying it completely. If your silicone sheet still doesn’t stick to your incision properly, use some medical tape to hold it in place.

How To Choose The Right Kit For Your Breast Procedure

Picking the right silicone sheet for your breast surgery scar can be a bit difficult at first. This general guide will help you select the right kit for your scars.

  • Breast Lift / Mastopexy - lollipop pair or 3” circle pair
  • Breast Augmentation - breast piece pair or 1.5” x 3” pair
  • Breast Reconstruction - breast anchor pair
  • Top Surgery / Mastectomy - 1.5” x 3” pair, depending on how much was removed
