Superfoods & Skin: 5 Superfood Ingredients To Boost Skin Health

Superfoods & Skin: 5 Superfood Ingredients To Boost Skin Health

You’ve probably heard the term superfoods kicking around in the last couple of years – and there’s a very good reason why. “Superfoods” are a range of different edible ingredients that have a high concentration of nutrients (also called nutrient density). Everything from açaí berries to baobab fruit extract can be found on this list – and there are far too many of them for a single blog.

In today’s post, we’re going to take a look at some of the best superfoods for skin health and why they make healthy skincare ingredients. We’ll also answer a common question: are superfoods good for your skin?

So, Are Superfoods Good For Your Skin?

The answer to this question mostly depends on the superfood in question. Generally speaking, superfoods have high concentrations of critical nutrients and minerals that can be very good for our skin. However, many superfoods are simply better taken internally than used topically. All things considered, there are many superfoods that do have plenty of benefits when used topically, and we’re going to go over several that we use here at Rejuvaskin.

Five Great Superfoods For Skin Health:

Let’s take a look at 5 of our favorite superfoods!

Avocado Extract

It’s no secret that plant extracts can have amazing impacts on skin health. Avocado extract is no exception, and it brings its own set of unique benefits to the table. Here at Rejuvaskin, we use avocado in our Facial Moisturizer and Eye Cream due to its incredible ability to lock in moisture and relieve inflammation.

Coffee Extract

Coffee touts more than just caffeine – it’s actually a powerhouse of antioxidants! We don’t hear as much about the antioxidants in coffee because they tend to get eliminated due to the high temperatures used to brew your morning cuppa. However, when extracted using careful techniques, coffee extract can be extremely beneficial to the skin. We even use it in our Facial Moisturizer, Face Serum, and Eye Cream (our entire Dermacosmetics Bundle).

Watermelon Extract

Watermelon, though it might seem like there isn’t a high nutrient density, actually contains some very useful skincare applications. This fruit is rich in C and B vitamins and lycopene — an antioxidant. We include this extract in our Facial Moisturizer and Eye Cream.

Lentil Extract

Lentils might seem plain and incredibly boring – they’re just a legume, after all. However, lentils are actually another potent, antioxidant-rich superfood. We love these little legumes, so lentils have made their way into our Facial Moisturizer and Eye Cream.

Tea Extracts

We also love using white and green tea extracts because – you guessed it – they’re a potent source of antioxidants! The extracts we use contain much more antioxidant power than your average cup of tea. You’ll find white and green tea extracts in our Face Serum.

And So Many More!

However, the list doesn’t stop here. We’ve also used natural retinoids and superfood ingredients like baobab extract, kakadu plum extract, sea fennel, bakuchiol, and more.

Here at Rejuvaskin, we are always on the hunt for all-natural, plant ingredients that help your skin replenish and protect the skin barrier – improving overall skin health.
