Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use the Sun Care Duo?
The Sun Care Duo includes our Mineral Facial Sunscreen & Skin Recovery Cream, designed to protect, hydrate, and nourish your skin from the effects of sunlight.
☀️ During Sun Exposure: Use about 2 fingers worth of Mineral Facial Sunscreen on your face and neck, reapplying about every 2 hours while in the sun.
💦 After Sun Exposure: After washing up after a day in the sun, use Skin Recovery Cream wherever your skin feels dry, or looks a bit pink or is sunburnt.(Note: Skin Recovery Cream should only be applied to closed to closed skin)
Is your mineral sunscreen waterproof?
Our Mineral Facial Sunscreen is designed for daily wear and offers some sweat resistance. However, mineral sunscreens are generally less water-resistant than other types. We recommend reapplying every two hours and using a more water-resistant sunscreen if you plan to swim.
How do I soothe a sunburn?
Our Skin Recovery Cream is a great option for soothing dryness and inflammation— two of the key players in an aggravating sunburn. If you find yourself looking a little pink, dried out, with minimal peeling, apply the Skin Recovery Cream to the affected skin a few times a day to keep the area hydrated and boost skin integrity as it heals.
Pro Tip: Keep your Skin Recovery Cream in the fridge for added coolness as you apply!
Do I need Skin Recovery Cream if I don’t have a sunburn?
Hydration is an important part of any Sun Care Routine, whether you’re sunburned or not! (Ideally not!) Not only does our Skin Recovery Cream take care of moisturizing your skin (which tends to be dried out after a day in the sun) it also helps strengthen your skin integrity by boosting collagen synthesis— keeping your skin barrier even stronger for next time!
Does zinc oxide cause sunscreen pilling? (& how do I stop it?)
While mineral sunscreens offer your skin great protection, they are a bit notorious for sometimes pilling. Sunscreen pilling is when your sunscreen (and/or other products) start to ball up or flake on your skin. In short, this means your sunscreen isn’t doing its job to protect you from the sun.
Luckily, there are plenty of ways to fix this—simply make sure you give your products a few minutes to fully absorb into your skin between steps, and then your sunscreen should go on smoothly. You can also try simplifying your routine with fewer products, and make sure you’re routinely exfoliating!
When do I use the Skin Recovery Cream as part of my routine?
Many dermatologists favor mineral over chemical sunscreens— and there’s no shortage of reasons why. For one, mineral sunscreens tend to be much gentler on sensitive skin, as well as non-comedogenic— meaning they tend not to clog pores, so they’re also a great option for acne-prone skin. Mineral sunscreens also tend to be safer for the environment, and offer immediate, broad-spectrum protection by reflecting UV rays off the skin.
